This is an embroidered example of the DRL Sportabzeichen (German National Sports Badge).
The badge was introduced in 1933 to replace the 1913 DRA (Deutsches Reichsabzeichen für Leibesübungen) medal.
The insignia was awarded in three grades: bronze, silver and gold.
The embroidered versions, like this one, were worn on sportswear and uniforms.
The letters "DRL" stand for "Deutsches Reichsabzeichen für Leibesübungen".
