Reichstag elections of November 6. These were the last free elections for Germany until 1949. Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in January 1933. Although the Nazi Party (NSDAP) lost votes in these elections, it was the largest party in Germany by a margin of 13 percentage points compared to the SDP. This exacerbated the struggle between the Nazis and the various communist parties of the time. These final elections played a crucial role in Hitler's eventual dictatorship.
