The Sportabzeichen was originally introduced in the Weimar Republic (1920s-1920s) as a sporting award.
From 1937 onwards, a swastika was added to the symbol.
It did not serve as a battle decoration, but as a reward for sporting achievements (running, swimming, strength exercises, etc.).
There were three grades: Bronze, Silver and Gold , depending on the performance achieved and the age category.
The set consists of a bronze version and a miniature pin, both made by Wernstein Jena, a nice set for any collection.
