Silver Wound Badge (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Silber). With the outbreak of World War II on September 1, 1939, Hitler reintroduced a slightly modified version of the wound badge, replacing the World War I helmet with the newly designed M35 helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and civilian personnel in uniform, and later (March 1943) to civilian personnel wounded by enemy action. The "Zink" badge is beautifully marked with the number "100," indicating production by the firm "Wächtler & Lange" from Mittweida. The pin and clasp are, of course, still fully functional. The badge retains most of its original silver finish. A beautiful example in very good condition!
