Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse). The Iron Cross was reinstated by King Wilhelm II on August 5, 1914, for decorations during the First World War. Both the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Iron Cross 2nd Class were awarded regardless of rank. The 2nd Class medal was awarded to personnel who had performed a single heroic act in combat. One had to already be in possession of the Iron Cross 2nd Class to be eligible to receive the Iron Cross 1st Class. The cross consists of three parts with an iron core and a silver frame. The pin and clasp are in perfect condition.

The cross is beautifully vaulted and in very good condition.
